Hi All,

I have a message to install an optional software. But when I select it, it fails to get installed. When I run HP updates, it says I am all up to date. Here's the message about installation of the HP Software update:

Hewlett-Packard - USB - 12/5/2017 12:00:00 AM - 44.2.2601.17339

Installation date: ‎3/‎26/‎2019 6:55 PM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F020B

Update type: Optional

Hewlett-Packard USB driver update released in December 2017

More information:
http://sysdev.microsoft.com/support/default.aspx

Help and Support:
http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub

I am not knowledgeable about software, so anyone who can explain what I need to do to get the software update installed, or if it's okay to just not install the optional update. There's little explanation of what the software does or will do.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to HP support community.

How are you trying to update, is it using Windows update or using HP Support assistant?

Run the Windows update troubleshooter and then run the Windows update:

Click here to download the Windows troubleshooter.

  • Run the troubleshooter. When it's done, it's best practice to restart your device. Then check for new updates. Go to Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update . Select Check for updates and install any available updates.

If you are trying to update using HP support assistant

Uninstall HPSA and then try to update.

If the issue still persists, then this update might not be for your computer model.

Let me know if this helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
