HP Thunderbolt G4 Docking Station 4J0G4AA#ABA

I recently encountered an issue with the HP G4 docking station where pressing the power button while the laptop lid was closed wouldn’t turn the device on. Instead, the HP logo would appear and get stuck until I manually opened the lid and performed a cold restart.

After a lot of research without finding a solution, I finally found out the fix and wanted to share it here for anyone facing the same problem.

According to the product manual (which I admittedly never read), the solution is simply to disable Fast Boot in the BIOS settings:

How to Disable Fast Boot in the BIOS:

  1. Press the power button to turn on the laptop.

  2. At the HP logo screen, press F10 to enter BIOS settings.

  3. Navigate to the Advanced tab and select Boot Options.

  4. Uncheck Fast Boot.

  5. Save and exit.

After disabling Fast Boot, the docking station’s power button started working again as expected, even with the laptop lid closed.

Hi, I think you didn't notice, but I was posting a solution for the problem, and not asking for support. Thanks a lot for you kindness to show up and try to help me though.
