Hi @DaithiMcC,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Do not worry, there might be a static.

Do you turn off the laptop when not in use?

Meanwhile, try the following:

POWER DRAIN:

Please disconnect all the devices and cables connected to your computer including the power cable and then press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds and connect the power cable back again and try to power on the computer.

CBR:

Press the windows key and then followed by the key "B" this time and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+B for 3-4 seconds more.

CMOS RESET:

Press the Windows key and then followed by the key "V" and then the power button for around 3-4 seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold windows+V for 3-4 seconds, you may not receive a response from the computer, Please let me know what happens.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Thanks for the responce.

I can say the first sugeswted option. (press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds and connect the power cable back again and try to power on the computer.) does work as thats how I've been getting around the issue todate. AS you are infering this is not a hardware issue I am happier and now looking for aresolution to a software issue. Can you advise. I need to be able to power it on even when I have now power lead e.g. on the train.

Thanks again.

David
