Hi
I need to replace a few things in my laptop
I need to replace the fan as its burnt out, the wifi card and also the speakers
I have found a broken laptop on Ebay, the display is broken but everything else works fine
Will my laptop be compatible with the parts from the
faulty unit?
My laptop is
HP ENVY M6 E4R01EA#ABU
M6-1310SA
Donor laptop
HP ENVY M6 E0R92EA#ABU
M6-1232SA
Thanks for your help

One is Intel and one is AMD so the fans are not going to be interchangeable. The speakers will and the wifi card may or may not be. The parts you need are not expensive and unless you are getting the "donor" unit for like $50 or less you can maybe do better by getting the actual parts you need individually.

Ah I see. I've looked on Ebay not sure what fan I need for my motherboard. Be so easy if I knew the spares part numbers without having to disassemble the laptop
What if I was to swap out the entire motherboard and fan, the donor laptop is an i5 2.6ghz which I'm pretty sure is faster than my current processor
The donor laptop is less than $50

Hi,
I believe the parts will work from bothe laptops. They have the same service manual, so fans, speakers and wifi card will work.

You can most likely can also replace the whole motherboard with heatsink assembly. The service manual mentions that some of the top covers are only for Intel, so you might need to use the other top cover too.
If you want to buy some new parts such as for example the fan, you can find the part number in the service manual and perform an online search. Fan 686901-001

Hope it helps,
David

Yes the fan is the same its the heatsinks that differ. I never replace one without the other. If the replacement laptop works well why not just swap your screen over to the replacement? Given the low price if you are generally adept at laptop mechanics you should be able to get one working laptop out of the two pieces.

I was thinking the same thing actually. Pictures show the laptop booting to ubuntu and boots to bios fine. Shows all the specs etc so it appears to be the screen only
What do you think?

I've sourced everything individually all apart from the fan.
Does anyone know the part number for the fan for my Intel board?
If I can get that I'll get the parts I actually need, reducing the cost and risk
Thanks
