The screen has begun to lift off the frame and is bending. This appears to be being caused by a swelling battery. I have seen that other models are having their batteries recalled, but the x2 isn’t included. This is the first time I have had this happen in a laptop. After only about 2 years of use, is this normal wear?

Hi,
It can happen. Take a look at this document:
The part number for the battery is 902500-855
Not available in HP parts store
So, you can try performing an online search or the nearest HP service center
Example:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=902500-855&ref=nb_sb_noss
On page 25 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the battery

Hope it helps,
David
