Spectre 13-ae0XX CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have upgraded to latest BIOS. Windows is  updated and so are all drivers.

I replaced battery with OEM battery a few days ago. Ever since, I am getting random shutdowns  and even log shows many ACPI errors event ID 13.

Error 6/10/2021 8:11:05 AM ACPI 13 None

": The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. <snip>"

When it boots up it shows Event ID 6008 - Unexpected shut down.

The HP battery diagnostic test said cancelled "Calibration required" .

1) First I ran manual calibration with extensive memory test loop till failure.

2) After that HP diagnostic still said calibration required but now it showed an option for calibration

3) Ran that for 3+ hours

4) HP Support assistant Battery check says battery is working properly but for calibration I need to run laptop  for 3 hours with AC connected. The Laptop shut down before that.

5) So bought Smarter Battery tool that can do calibration. Started that but laptop died before completing it.

Please help me get out of this cycle. What do I need to do?

Update-

I am able to run HP Diagnostic at the boot time. I did component -> Power -> battery. The test passed but the status said calibration required (21).  It gave me option of "calibrate" . Ran calibration for 4 hours. It said calibration complete. But still status remains "calibration required".

I even tried draining battery fully through memory test and then ran calibration still it is stuck saying calibration required.

Meanwhile if I try to use the laptop, I continue to get ACPI error 13 and the laptop randomly shuts down some times within 15 mins sometime within 1-2 hours.

However the when I ran calibration at boot through diagnostics the laptop does not shut down even for 6 hours.

Hope this gives some insight to experts. Would appreciate your help.

Problem solved - actually problems as there were more than one.

1) Continuous spitting of APCI Error 13 on Event Viewer. - Turns out it was coming from Notebook Fan Control. Had to locate and shut down the service otherwise just closing the program was not sufficient.

2) Random shut down  -Not sure which one fixed it.

a) Ran full calibration of battery a couple of times. It still says calibration required otherwise is working fine

b) From admin command line ran sfc /scannow

It found errors and then fixed it. No more random shutdowns.

Hope it helps someone else.
