HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

Picked up my new spectre 14 360 a couple of days ago.  It's the fully loaded version with i7 1255U, 16gb of RAM, OLED display and 1 TB SSD hard drive. I've noticed that the battery indicator drops from 100% to 94 % when it's fully charged (it doesn't go 99, 98, 97...). However, It most likely holds the charge for all 6% as it takes good 20-30 mins to drop to 94%. After that it discharges as  supposed to (94, 93, 92...). Updated all the drivers and the BIOS, still didn't fix the issue.

I had spectre 14 of the previous generation  (2021 model) which did exactly the same thing. I ended up sending it back to the HP and getting my money back. Interestingly, my Envy 15 x360 from 2017 had the exact same issue, however it still runs just fine. I can return/replace the machine but at this point I don't believe the other units will be free of the same problem. Can't figure out whether this is a hardware vs software  issue. Anyone has a clue ?

Thank you !

Hi @dk112485

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing charging-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

May I know from when are you facing this issue?

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

Disconnect AC
Shutdown
Remove battery
Connect AC
Startup
Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).
Shutdown
Disconnect AC
Insert battery
Connect AC
Startup

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The battery is non-removable and I'm not going dissemble a brand new new laptop. I did re-install the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery drivers and I also updated the BIOS, still didn't work...
