Spectre x360 15-df1100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've got a Spectre x360 15-df1100 that I wish to use with a USB-C screen. Since I already read there were several issues with HP laptops with non-HP USB-C chargers in the past, I first tried charging it through a 30W Apple charger. Since this worked I wasn't worried about the laptop being able to use the 95W charger in the HP e344c screen that I had in mind.

But my surprise couldn't have been any bigger, when I discovered that the laptop is able to use the screen as a display perfectly, however it will not be charged through it. In the menu of the screen I've already enabled performance mode, to ensure power is delivered. Hooking up a Macbook, this device is being charged through the monitor, so the screen is actually delivering power over USB-C. Also I've updated the bios in the Spectre to the version from 23-12-2019.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

That model number is not bringing up any specs or manuals. Try again to find the model or product number, please. HP Support Assistant lists it.

I assume you have tried both ports? And the laptop came with a USB-C adapter? Was it the 135w or the 90w?

It came with a conventional plug adapter, 90W. Tried the 90W USB-C connection from the display on both ports indeed, both don't work.

Also tried a 30W USB-C charger from a macbook, which worked slow obviously, but it was recognized as a charger and it was charging.

I wish I could tell you its an easy thing. USB-C charging is so far from universal plug and play. HP laptops will now charge from non-HP adapters but not all non-HP adapters. Used to be they would only charge from HP adapters.
