Hi

My note book is HP Spectre 360 Convertible Model 13-ae013dx, and am looking for the cooling fan which is on the left if you look from the top of the keyboard, and right if you turn the back and open the laptop. I cannot find it in partsurf or anywhere else.  The service PN on the fan itself reads: L04886-001 which is no where to be found on the net.  Can someone please indicate where they sell it?

Tnx

Hi,

If you look on page 35 of service manual you can see the two fans and part numbers. Try performing online search with part number in your country (they are not available in HP parts store) Write HP or HP fan in front of part number as I see that the part number also refers to shoes.

Thanks for that. Found some possible matches but all are over $50 USD for a tiny fan. I guess I will manage with one fan!

Hi,

I guess they are not produced a lot by third parties yet, that is why the prize remains high.

Do you get an error for the fan once you boot the PC? Which of the two fans do you need (part number). It is not a good idea to use the PC with a fan which does not function as the heat will have an effect on the components in the long run. Also CPU throttling might occur which will make the PC less "powerfull".

What country are you in?

All the best,

David

Hi

Yes the famous 90B system fan error. Even a staff of mine has another HP with the same error, it is everywhere. It is the left fan i understand motherboard fan (to the left of the keyboard if you look to the keyboard from above. The laptop (8th Gen CPU) is less than a year old and produced the error after about 5 months. Bought it in the US but not planning to travel back soon to take it for warranty (live in New Zealand). So thanks to some Youtube I opened the back and saw that when the PC works up (using some apps to stress the graphic card and CPU) only the right fan works (cooling the CPU) but the left fan is dead. Curious enough, just before the startup with error 90B the left fan tries to crank up (rotates a fraction of the second, then stops).

Currently I am using speedfan to check the temprature of the board and the 4 cores.

CPUs remain under 50C, but motherboard has reached 90C. currently I am researching possibility of an external fan (would go for $5-$10) or ice gels under the laptop, it is just beyond me to pay $97 USD for a genuine tiny fan, and over $50 US plus shipping for a third party with dubious warranty (from ebay), specially with the knowlege that the genuine fans are failing (or their controllers on the motherboard) so widely after months of buying such an expensive PC.

Question: what is a safe upper threshold for the motherboard and CPU tempratures?

Tnx
