Black screen on my Spectre X360 (15-BL012DX) and CAPS LOCK blinking: 3 long blinks & 2 short one.
Manufacturer warranty has expired on March 2018.
From the Geek Squad: Bad Motherboard or Graphic card (same thing b/c on the motherboard)
I bid remove the RAM (clean with eraser) put back. Not working. Can't access BIOS. Plugged to my LED TV and I can't see anything.
Removed the batterie and plug the A/C charger nothing. Unplugged the small battery "watch style 3V" from motherboard & no battery with A/C adapter plug in, nothing.
So far it looks like the motherboard/graphic card might be the reason. Is Geek Squad right? Can anyone tell me how to test this hypothesis? Multimeter reading test?
Thanks

For once I think Geek Squad is right. Since you are shortly out of warranty I will try to escalate. Come back if you do not get a reach-out from HP or if you are not happy and we can talk about self-help options.

Thank you for your email. Just to be clear, since my laptop isn’t under any warranty by HP, I still need to pay for a new motherboard. At this present time, the new motherboard will be more (with labor and fees) than the residual value of my laptop if serviced by HP. I will shop on eBay to see if I can buy a pre-owned motherboard and hopefully, this will fix the black screen with the CAPS LOCK blinking. Thanks
