HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)

I have a new Spectre x360 with original battery and keep getting the message "Battery Calibration needed".

I saw this problem mentioned in the past with other laptops, but nothing recent or on Spectre x360.

Is there a better solution than draining the battery to 0 and recharging?

HP, what is happening? Is this a hardware defect? Is this a software bug in your calibration system?

I am worried that I bought a defective laptop, and I switched to HP from Lenovo due to multiple problems with them.

Update:  I followed instructions from another thread, and it worked.

But, this should not be needed, and I still want to know why this happened and if something is wrong with this new computer and/or battery.

Here is what I did:

went into Device Manager, Battery, and uninstalled the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Method Battery".

unplugged laptop

rebooted computer, did not let Windows start, and repeatedly pressed Esc key to got into Startup Menu.

chose hardware tests and loop until error.

left lid open and let tests run until battery died (took several hours, but not sure how long)

closed lid

plugged in laptop

let charge fully (took some hours, but don't know how many)

opened lid

turned on laptop normally.

Opened HP Support Assistant

Ran battery check

All normal now, Calibrate Battery message is gone.
