The "hard-cable" goes to the router, and the router has wireless capability, and the author's computer either has built-in wireless, or the $15 adapter adds wireless capability.

If you have Internet (cable-company's cable-modem or telephone company's DSL-modem), you can connect any router that has wireless capability.

Example: for $70 US (or less), see: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/linksys-n600-dual-band-wi-fi-router-black/6571467.p?skuId=6571467

Connect its 'WAN' ("wide area network") Ethernet port to the Ethernet port on the modem, and configure the router (set an 'SSID' and password for your network).

Then, for $15 US each, per computer, see:

  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/j5-create-wireless-n-usb-2-0-mini-adapter-black/8755765.p?skuId=8755765

for a wireless adapter that connects to one USB port on your computer.

Configure it to connect to your router, and your PC will get Internet access.

Hi,

I have to use the following adapter for my loan Spectre x360

    https://www.anker.com/products/A7514041

It gives few more USB ports too.

Regards.

That adapter adds USB ports, but, by itself, does not add "wireless" capability.

Of course, you can use that adapter, and plug the USB wireless "stub" that I referenced into one of the ports, if you need more USB ports _and_ you need wireless Internet.

I think the OP is asking for something to do with CABLE from the subjet. I may be wrong.

Good thinking but my office won't allow me to do that.
