Hi, I'm trying to charge through both my usb-c ports with a 65W charger plugged into both ports to deliver a total of 130W.
Of course I haven't tried it yet, as I don't know if it's meant to be charged this way and don't want to fry my laptop.
Alternatively, would one usb-c port support a 100W charger? Or what is the maximum charging rate the usb-c port can handle?
I'm just trying to find a more compact charger than the original 135W charger that came with this laptop:
1. I'm considering the Baseus 100W usb-c charger -if charging through one usb-c port; OR:
2. the Baseus 120W charger, that can charge both usb-c ports simultaneously at 60W each port -so does this mean I'll get 120W of charging into my laptop? Or does it mean I'll get one fried and very crispy laptop?
3. Two separate 65W usb-c chargers plugged into both usb-c ports at the same time.
Thanks all, in advance.

It uses 135W charger part number L15534-001. 100W may charge your machine during it sleeps or doing nothing or overnight. I don't know charge it with TWO 65W chargers (= 130W using your calculation) will work or not.
I read the news another day: around end of this year, vendors may be able to sell 240W UB-C chargers. I tested 100W USB-C charger on 4 machines and it worked on 3 machines (one Dell machine, 2 HP machines, all use normal 65W chargers) but not other which uses 200W(Omen 15") charger.

Hi Banhien,
Thanks for the reply. I decided to go with one charger: Baseus 100W 4-port model.
The Thunderbolt 3.0 port on my Spectre x360 15" should be able to handle the 100W charger, as I'm using a DELL TB16 Thunderbolt Docking Station at work, (with the 240W power adapter which can output to a maximum of 130W for charging).
So for travelling, the 100W charger should be fine with one Thunderbolt 3.0 port.
I think it's too risky to charge both ports at once, but if someone out there knows if it can be done, it would be good info for a future upgrade.
Thank again and keep safe!

Hi,
even though I don't have the same model as you, the adaptor for mine is also 135 W and I had the same question as you.
So, I was wondering, now that you have bought that 100W usb-c adaptor, if it worked with your spectre and managed to charge it, even while you were using it.
And also, did you try to use both USB-C ports of your machine to charge it ?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi PhilippeR1,
Yes, I have bought the Baseus 100W USB-C charger (Model: CC GAN100US) and it is able to charge the laptop's battery while I'm using the laptop. Status shows "Plugged in" and works normally. The charger also didn't get too hot.
My smaller Baseus 65W USB-C charger would not charge after a while when using the laptop. I suspect it will charge with the laptop turned off, but didn't bother trying as that would not help me anyway.
Not going to try to input 2 USB-C ports at the same time, as I won't risk it!
If anyone has an active product under warranty, perhaps they could get HP Support to answer this one? That way you would not have to take any risks, as HP Support would confirm if it can be done or not.
For me, as long as I'm able to charge with a 100W charger, while using the laptop, then I'm ok for now. Just for your info, I was only conducting a zoom meeting and not running anything heavy in the background, so minimal load.
I do agree with you though, it would be nice to know if charging through 2 USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports at the same time can be done....Any takers....???
