I want to switch the power button light off, or I will have to return this laptop. Who came up with the brilliant idea of the light being on in the "sleep" mode? What exact purpose does it serve? So I know where the laptop is at all times? That is ridiculous. I don't need it lighting up my bedroom. Actually I don't even need it when I use the laptop. I also don't want to turn the laptop off or have it in the "hibernate" mode. Is there a way of turning it off permanently, or do I have to get a Dell? I spent over 2K for this, and now I have to restore to a piece of electrical tape to cover this atrocity. And the solution given in another tread about going to the power plan options does not work, since Microsoft did away with these options. So is there a solution other than the ever-elegant tape over the freaking light????

@dkitoo Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the Spectre x 360 power button way too bright.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Open the Microsoft Windows Control Panel by searching in windows.
- Click "Power Options."
- Click "Change Plan Settings." You will see six drop-down menus on-screen—three beneath the term "On Battery" and three beneath the term "Plugged In." Click each of the drop-down menus and select the "Never" option.
- Click "Apply" to disable the LED indicators on your HP laptop computer.
Note: if you do not see such options then this computer does not support the feature.

Seems you missed a large part of my post, to wit:
"And the solution given in another tread about going to the power plan options does not work, since Microsoft did away with these options. So is there a solution other than the ever-elegant tape over the freaking light????"
So to make things simple - I only have ONE option, for "Balanced" plan. You should know that if you are in the HP support team. This is now Win 10 feature and not a bug. To offer the solution you offered is... weird, to say the least. AND I still want to turn off this light by means other than a piece of tape over it. Where do I ask for feature included in the future hp driver updates? I don't even care if that light is EVER on, it serves no purpose that I can fathom.
