Dear HP support,
the touchpad on our Spectre x2 doesn't seem do be working anymore-
I've read what's been suggested on another similar post. We're happy to perform this "hard reset" but how can we be sure we're not going to lose some data / create any additional problem on the pc?
Thanks a lot,
Pier

If it were mine I would boot it from a Linux Live thumb drive like maybe Ubuntu or Knoppix and see if the touchpoad works in an alternate operating system or even just enter UEFI diagnostics (F2 as you power up) where I beleive the mouse should be active. If the touchpad is dead in another software environment then logically it must be hardware. The touchpad is an electronic sensor chip and they can and do go bad like any other piece of electronics.
