I have just purchased and received my HP Spectre X360 14 (2022) laptop
ProdID 3Y827AV

I am finding that Linux does not detect the HP TrueVision HD IR camera.

I see that several other people have posted the same problem, but do not see ANY response from HP.

I am deeply saddened to see that such a nice laptop is equipped with a webcam that is completely proprietary to Microsoft operating systems.

I must have the camera functioning as I use this laptop for work.

Should I return my purchase?

I have contacted hp support on this issue, which turned out to be a less then fruitless effort. I was told to "contact linux support", which is not a thing as linux is not a single corperation owned by any company.

As for the driver issue? i got told what boiled down to "use windows or work it out yourself"

This affects me too.  And I am feeling deeply regretful about my purchase.  I love the hardware, but no driver support means that I can't use it properly (or sometimes at all).  It's ridiculous that such problems still exist.

HP should at least provide webcam UVC support as a fallback; I find it crazy that they haven't even provided one for Windows.
