HP Spectre x360 - 13-ac033dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this laptop back in 2017 for grad school. Wanted a MacBook level computer but I’m a PC person. Saw a lot of great reviews. However from the start there were issues. Within the first month both of the usb c ports gave out. Sent off for repair and everything seemed fine. I’ve had other issues over the years but not enough that made it worth parting with with my school computer for an extended period of time. The battery life was basically nonexistent not long after receiving it back from the warehouse but because I barely take it out of my apartment I didn’t mind because I have the charger near.  I’ve been almost obsessive with how careful I am with this device. It never leaves my desk but yet here I am with major hardware issues. I had a local computer shop take a look at it and was told that the motherboard is basically shot and that replacing it is the cost of a new computer. That’s just ridiculous considering how much I paid to begin with and that I’m not the only one with this issue. I can’t seem to get in contact with any real person via the support options on the site. It’s quite frustrating because despite the issues in the beginning, HP did fix them and I didn’t mind recommending the computer to others that asked. This laptop was listed in several places as comparable with the MacBook but clearly that’s not true. I’m at a lost here and don’t know what to do honestly.

At almost five years of ownership of the laptop it has reached a very respectable product service life.

Many laptops, regardless of manufacturer do not.

It is, unfortunately, about the time that you should begin sourcing a replacement.

Electronic components do wear out and that is why.

Expecting a laptop to last for your lifespan , and I hope that is not your expectation, isn't realistic.
