Seems that the replacement system board (  801506-501 Contact HP  MOTHERBOARD UMA i5-5200U 8GB W8STD

) is $903.45... that is more than what I paid for the laptop!!  This is laptop was pretty much a wast of money and time.

Very disapointed with this machine, had expected a laptop of this implied quality to last more than a couple of weeks after waranty expiration...

However I did appreciate the prompt response in this forum and thank you for that.

Hi David

My spectre x360 is not charging either. It does not even recognize that is plugged in. If you or someone else at HP can reach out to me i can give you more information and would really appreciate it.

My specter 360 also had the same problem, it stopped charging.  It was 6 months out of warranty.  When I called HP they had me send it in, paid $400 and got a new motherboard.  I had it one week before it started having more problems (boot device not found).  This was an off and on problems.  Also had software problems after getting it back.  Then the boot device not found was continuous.  I have mailed it back in for more repairs and am waiting to receive it back.  After reading these posts and others listed under "the battery over heating", I believe the HP has a design flaw.  I deeply regret paying for the repairs.  HP please fix the problem.

Mrstenter,

I have experienced the very same problem as avg29. my power cord tests good, I have accomplished a hard reset, and tested the battery with a component test which shows good. Last night the computer went completely dead unexpectedly and would not respond with any lights or indication when I try to turn it on or plug it in. This morning, I was able to turn the computer on and it indicated a low battery although it had been on the charger all night. This morning When I plug my cord into the computer, the small light shows orange, charging, but the battery continues to drain.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

Glad I found this - I have a Spectre x360, it's now 1 month out of warranty, and it no longer charges just like yours. Coincidence? Have to buy a new computer now. Won't be an HP.

@DavidSMP - I am experiencing the exact same problem with my Spectre x360 - 1 month out of warranty. That I am experiencing the exact same issue as many others, this appear to be an issue. I use this laptop for work and once it hits 0% battery, I can't work, and shipping the computer away for repairs means I have no laptop to perform my work, so I have to purchase another computer. What can HP do for me and the others experiencing this issue? A laptop should not stop charging after 1 year.

So, The Google is littered with these complaints. I'm guessing HP won't take any action as the device is now getting a little dated. My device, like many others, also will no longer charge or power on. No power LED. Tested power supply, all is good there. Even went as far as replacing charging port. Still no power. From my initial research it seems there are hundreds of these complaints and that the culprit is indeed the motherboard. An issue so common for a $1,000+ laptop seems a little outlandish. I for one am getting tired of this throw away mentality for something that cost so much. 1 year warranties? Give me break. So much for giving HP another chance. What a joke.  The worst part is that are best means of trying to get something like this handled is via a forum, in which a response is never a guarentee.

This is also my problem I thought it might be the charger so I bought a new one and that worked for about a week now that doesn't work.  My computer will work while it is plugged in.
