I spilled a little bit of water on my laptop (about 50ml, or a 1/4 cup). I dried it out with a towel, plugged it off, flipped it upside down, removed the usb. I tried to switch it off immediately, but it only went to sleep and kept turning back on as I was drying it with the towel. I ended up logging in to switch it off properly (about a minute into drying it off).
It has been propped up on a towel upside down for a while now. Most of the water was on top of it, or drained out when I turned it upside down, but I'm still terrified that I damaged it. How long should I wait before I attempt to turn it back on? Is there anything else I can do? I haven't removed the battery because I'm too scared to open it.

I would put it somewhere warm, if you are in sunny climate, leave in the sun for the day, this will warm the body and evaporate water. Clean water is not a giant problem, sugary liquids and acidic pop or salty water are and will cause on going problems. One the water dries out it should be fine.

Thank you. That's reassuring. It was filtered water too, so hopefully not too many salts and other things that could leave residues. The sun was already setting when this happened, but it's pretty warm here. I will leave it as is overnight and then move it next to the window tomorrow morning where there's a bit more sunlight.
