For what it's worth, I had a Lenovo Yaga 13 and I upgraded it to a 256gb mSata ssd with no problems. My opinion would be it should work. I went the hard disk route 'cause it was less expensive. The downside to the hard disk is when you use the tablet portion only (not the dock) you lose the storage plus any apps you've installed on the HDD would not be accessable. I'm holding off until the mSata SSD's come down in price. Let us know if you find a reasonable price out there. BTW, I did look at the mSata SSD and it was a standard Samsung which I posted the part number for. Good luck.

Thanks Trekker.. I found this http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-240GB-mSATA-Internal-CT240M500SSD3/dp/B00BQ8RKT4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qi... for $140 (free shipping)
Thats a pretty good price for an mSATA 240gb. I'm ready to go for it, but I was wondering if the disk size might be limited by the BIOS(??) Maybe I'll wait a bit longer to see if prices go lower..
I too, would think it should not be a problem.
Just wondering as these BB units seem to be configured a bit different than regular units ordered direct from HP.
Thank you.

Well, I've finally completed the upgrades to my G110DX. It now has a 250GB Samsung 840EVO SSD in place of the 128GB SSD in the tablet and I did add the extra thin Seagate 500GB SATA drive in the dock. I now have pleanty of storage! Fry's had the mSATA SSD for $179. I used Acronis True Image 2014 to clone the 128GB SSD on to the 250GB mSata. Hope this helps those who were wondering about the upgrades possible on this PC.

Thanks for the info Trekker. I'm ordering a 256gb msata now. I also have 128gb sd card and a 64gb mini-sd card installed. All that will be enough for my needs. I probably will not bother with the 500 gb under the KB. The laptop is working great.
Thank you for the post.

I have the pavilion x2. I upgraded the Dimm from 4 to 8. I am amazed that hp makes a base with out the HD connector. there is a weight in my base and the hdmi board doesnt have a HD plug in. You can buy a new card fairly cheap and doesnt take anything more than just adding the drive just one more screw.
why would hp not just have the connector. what would be the cost diferential to just make them with it.

Thank you all for this thread!
I also bought the i5 version of the HP Split x2 at Best Buy on Black Friday.
I ALWAYS upgrade my computers to at least 8GB. I planned from day 1 to add enough RAM to 8gb. I am ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED with both Best Buy and HP to find out this laptop is limited to 4gb!
I am constantly getting "High Memory Usage" warnings from running Chrome along with 1 or 2 Excel spreadsheets.
In the past I was able to run Adobe CS6 Production Premium with no problem on my $350 i3 Ivy Bridge with 8GB of RAM. In fact, with 8GB that laptop was much faster than the HP Spilt with 4GB.
The $650 that I paid for teh Split is the most that I have ever in my life paid for a laptop. I am an IT professional who has owned at least 8 laptop and as many desktop computers. I expecteed this i5 to last a number of years. I knew the Split only had 1 memory slot, which is absolutely a design flaw, but not being able to upgrade above 4GB dooms this stupid POS to a very short life.
I am very, very pissed to find this out. I know the specs at Best Buy indicated that it could be upgraded to 8GB. I was disappointed to have to spend $85 on a Crucial 8GB chip to upgrade a $650 laptop, and considered the 4GB an absolute mistake from that standpoint. I rea;y wish I had know about this limitation .... Very Pissed!
In contrast, I also bought a Dell Inspirion 15 i5 with 6GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and a Touch Screen for $525 at Xmas for my father. Starting with 6GB is perfect, as it elminates the need to immediately pull and throw away any memory chips, and provides an upgrade path for the future. I have a 120GB SSD taht I can add to that computer and for $600 have a perfect machine that will be fully function for 5-8 years.
Wow HP - you really screwed the pooch on this one!! NOT HAPPY. Next computer is a Dell or something else, not an HP. UGH.

There's been a massive amount of information on this subject in prior postings. If your G model is the same as the BB model they sell, the memory CANNOT be upgraded. You'll need to search the prior posts for the parts manual to download-that manual will detail how to open up the tablet portion. The upgrade is sime once you have the tablet opened up. Good luck.

Trekker, What is the model of the samsung drive that you used as I have the BB version of the g110-dx and I am looking to upgrade the ssd drive inside the tablet and also what hdd you used in the keyboard and what kit you purchased from hp to get this to work. Any information would be great.
Thanks
