According to the parts list for your PC's product number, HP lists two drives that could have been installed in it.

HP PartSurfer

L85364-005
Solid-state drive 512GB M2 2280 PCIe NVMe

N45476-005
SOLID STATE DRIVE 512GB PCIe-4x4 2280 NVMe M.2

I looked up the specs on the first drive and from what I can find, that drive PCIe Gen 3.0.

Since HP offered the Gen 4 drive in the notebook, I recommend you opt for a Gen 4 drive.

The service manual does not indicate the PCIe Gen of the drives.

Maintenance and Service Guide

You can install any capacity drive you want as long as the drive is single-sided (memory chips on only one side of the circuit board so it fits in the slot).
