I have hp victus 15-fa1034nt laptop. I want to upgrade the ssd hard disk. If I replace the SSD myself, will it cause a problem in terms of warranty? Or what do you recommend me to do?

Warranty is a grey/gray area, very hard to say in concrete. For new generation machines, adding something or fixing something is a work for Authorized Service Provider parts .

However you can add yourself. If something went wrong due to this upgrade, I think HP would not honor warranty.

Hope this makes sense.

Upgrading the SSD on your HP Victus 15-fa1034nt laptop should not automatically void the warranty, but it's crucial to perform the upgrade carefully and in accordance with HP's guidelines. Here are some general recommendations:

  1. Check the Warranty Terms:

    • Review the warranty terms provided by HP for your specific laptop model. Manufacturers often allow user upgrades of certain components without voiding the warranty. However, unauthorized or improper upgrades might lead to warranty issues.
  2. Follow HP's Upgrade Guidelines:

    • Check HP's official documentation for your laptop model. They may provide instructions on how to upgrade or replace specific components, including the SSD. Following these guidelines helps ensure that the upgrade is done correctly.
  3. Keep Original Components:

    • If possible, retain the original SSD and any components you replace. If you need to send your laptop in for warranty service, reinstalling the original components can be helpful.
  4. Document the Upgrade:

    • Take note of the upgrade process. Documenting the upgrade, including photos of the steps you took, can serve as evidence that you performed the upgrade correctly in case warranty questions arise.
  5. Consider Professional Installation:

    • If you are uncertain about performing the upgrade yourself, or if you want to be extra cautious about the warranty, consider having the SSD upgrade performed by a certified technician. Some authorized service providers can assist with upgrades without voiding the warranty.
  6. Check for Warranty Stickers:

    • Some laptops have stickers or seals that indicate if the device has been opened. Breaking these seals might raise concerns regarding the warranty. Check if your laptop has any warranty seals in place.
  7. Contact HP Support:

    • If you have any doubts or questions about the warranty implications of upgrading the SSD, it's advisable to contact HP support. They can provide specific guidance based on your laptop model and warranty terms.

Remember that the warranty policies can vary, and it's essential to adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines to avoid potential warranty issues. If you're uncomfortable with the upgrade process or if you want to ensure warranty compliance, seeking professional assistance may be the safest route.

Hi, @BurakCatalkaya

This is a peer-to-peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP, so we are unable to reply on HP's behalf regarding the warranty terms and conditions.

I recommend you contact HP customer service and seek an official answer from HP.

Chapter 5 of the maintenance and service guide on your notebook's user guides support page indicates that installing SSD's or memory is a customer-authorized procedure, so off the record, I would assume that you will not void the warranty unless you break something in the process of doing the upgrades.

Do note however, that if your notebook ever needs warranty work, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.
