HP 240 G7 Notebook PC

I have an HP 240 G7 Notebook PC. I was wondering if there was a SSD slot in my laptop. If so, does this mean I don't have to remove my HDD? If not, does removing my HDD delete all my files?

Hi:

If your notebook has an Intel Core processor, it has a M.2 slot that supports both NVMe and SATA SSD's.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types.

HP 240 G7 Notebook PCHP 246 G7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide

The service manual does not indicate that dual drive configurations are supported but you can try installing the M.2 SSD and keep the hard drive for storage only.

If it doesn't work you will have to remove the hard drive.

The files will not be deleted as they will remain on the hard drive.

You can purchase a USB to SATA hard drive cable, plug one end into the hard drive after you remove it and the other end into a working PC's USB port and you should be able to read/copy your files to the PC.

Something like this...
