Pavilion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Pavilion notebook (product: P1F11UA#ABA  model: 13-s192nr). Windows startup fails when I start the laptop and it tried to diagnose. I then see a message saying 'your PC did not start correctly'. I tried advanced options and troubleshoot, but the problem still exists. I then ran hardware diagnostics and got error message ID PGF4X9-7T2A1B-GXGJLK-60XL03. Looks like my hard disk is corrupted or damaged.

1. How can I recover data from the hard disk now? Can I use SATA to usb cable to access data in the hard disk? If so, how do I remove hard drive from the notebook?

2. Will I be able to use windows recovery USB drive or something to fix this issue?

Hi:

The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the hard drive needs to be replaced, and the operating system reinstalled.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

After you replace the drive, you can make a bootable USB W10 installer using the Microsoft media creation tool at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

After W10 installs you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page...

You can try a USB to SATA cable to recover data from the hard drive after you remove it, but the odds are against you being successful.

Thank you. I was able to remove the hard drive and recover data using USB to SATA cable. I will try installing W10 using bootable USB.

You're very welcome.

Glad you were able to recover your files off the bad drive.
