HP Elite 8440 p
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

My 8440p may be an old machine, but until very recently worked perfectly.fine.

Now however when I press the powerbutton the small leds on the leading edge and those above the keyboard come on ( not the screen ! ), its innards click and then everything is immediately  turned off again.

I have tried everything that is recommended in these cases (  hard reset e.t.c  see google; you tube ) and I can't even get into the BIOS screen for a diagnosis, because it is turned off before I get there.

As I said it is old, but I like its buildquality and would like to fix it.

Please help

Peter.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Since you are unable to get to BIOS this is a Hardware issue, mostly probably Motherboard issue. I suggest you check with the Local store for repair options since this is an older model

Thank you

Hello Krazy Toad

Yes, I was afraid of that.

Repairing it is probably more expensive than buying a refurbished one.

Thanks

Peter.

True. Since it's an older model replacement parts from local computer stores will cost more than purchasing a new or refurbished computer
