HP 14-fq0057nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased a 14-fq0057nr laptop from BJ's and trying to install additional SSD storage.

The problem I am having is with the WD 500GB NVMe drive in the m.2 slot not being recognized by either the BIOS (version F.33) or Windows 10.  I tried disabling Secure Boot, but the OS boot manager still only sees the built-in MMC (TA2964) drive, not the SSD drive in the m.2 slot.   Is the m.2 slot supported?  If so, what settings or changes do I need to make for this drive to be seen in the BIOS and/or the OS?

There is very little information about this laptop available regarding upgrades, so any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi@NeilCee, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Upgrade options for this particular model are not available as the motherboard of this unit does not support the same, As it is embedded.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

What then is the m.2 slot used for?  Is all the functional hardware there to support it but the BIOS doesn't?  Is it possible a future firmware update will activate it?  Also, there is an 8-pin ribbon connector in the same area as the m.2 slot, is that connector usable for an SSD?  If so, is the ribbon cable to SSD available?  Thanks again!

Hi@NeilCee

That is a WIFI card on that slot .

No not that one.  There is an empty m.2 connector that will accept a 2280 SSD.  I have had it installed there, but unfortunately it is not recognized by the BIOS.
