Hi, My HP model is HP 15s- eq2132au. The laptop comes with a 500gb nvme ssd storage and I was wondering how to upgrade it. Does this laptop has an extra slot? or do I have to replace the older one?. I have a 256gb m2 ssd lying around, can I install this into my pc?

Hi:
Your notebook only has one M.2 slot for a SSD.
If you need more storage, you will have to replace the 512 GB NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
Consult the maintenance and service guide on your notebook's support page for the NVMe SSD removal and replacement procedure.

You're very welcome.
Chapter 1 of the service manual has the list of NVMe SSD capacities HP offered in the model series.
HP offered NVMe SSD's up to 512 GB in storage capacity.
Normally that is just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.
I don't see any reason why a larger capacity NVMe SSD wouldn't work, but I cannot 100% guarantee you that it will.
There are no software programs available that can provide what the maximum drive capacity the slot/BIOS will support.
So, you will just have to take your chances.
The good news is the reputable Crucial memory/SSD company states that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 GB in storage capacity for the model series, so hopefully, they have done some research on the matter.

Otherwise, they would have a lot of unhappy customers.
