Hi there I'm looking to upgrade my Storage on my personal laptop. I am not sure however of the supported capacity and type of drives  I want to upgrade both the M.2 And the SSD 2.5" drives to the max size and optimal performance. however I don't know what to type when searching when it comes to compatibility. I only managed to find out that only m2. SATA iii is supported but not sure about the size. is there an upper limit of how large the drive can be? for example is m.2 sata iii 1 or 2 TB be compatible ? same for SSD Sata slot.

Also is it effective to buy one of these heat sinks for m.2 ? some are like a sticker and some are a metalic rectangle but not sure if they will fit when closing the laptop after installing the drive.

Sorry for the long question, I hope someone can help and hopefully other people having the same concern get help too.

Hi @mo_tash

According to the service manual the laptop does not support NVMe, so you must buy only M.2 SATA disks,

Hi @mo_tash

You can buy the size you want in both M.2 SATa-3 and 2.5” SSD, it can be 1 Tb, 2 Tb, or more.

About the heat sink is better not to buy one, it may happen that the cover does not close well and damage the slot.

Hi Resistencia,

Thanks a lot for the confirmation and quick response!

So basically there is no firmware restriction on the size of storage? because I couldn't tell from the manual plus the manual was a bit confusing.

is there any thing I could choose in terms of better performance when shopping for m.2 or the SSD? for example similar to nvme there is a 4th generation which is better than the previous ones etc.. do you know if there is such a thing  for the supported storage components in my laptop or all of them will perform the same?
