HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 (43F53AV)

Hello!

Can anyone understand what is causing my laptop to make the following noise? I am convinced there is something wrong with my laptop but no idea what it is and can't find anything online that describes the same noise.

Link to video I recorded - note: it lasts about 1-2 seconds and on a dark screen.

Weird noise my laptop is making

It sounds slightly like people clicking the mouse button quickly but inside my laptop! 🤨

It occasionally happens when I am playing videos or if I physically move my laptop so it's at an angle. My game crashes to desktop quite often too and I think it's connected to this issue. I have sent a screen dump to the games company but I don't think it's related to the game because it's happened on two different games.

If it's useful to know, my drivers are all up to date and the laptop is under a year old with lots of space available on the C drive. Not entirely sure what it is!

Help!!!!!! 🙂

Hi @TimDYo

I tried the link but cannot get the video or audio to play.

I checked my internet connection just to make sure on the bandwidthtest.com web page.

The result was stable and at 110 MB/s down and 135 MB/s up, it isn't the problem.

Try this - I think this stream only lasts 24hrs but I'll find a better host after

The noise is quite faint and just a dark blank screen and lasts about 1-2 seconds.

Ok.

The OS crashing when the notebook is moved is far more serious.
That indicates a likely  hardware issue.

The faint noise in the video stream could be the hard disk exhibiting the click of death.

That is actually quite a rare issue these days. It was a big issue in the 1990's.
The legacy hard disk is the only electromechanical device in your laptop capable of making a click sound.

If you have anything of importance on the notebook, make an image of the hard disk and also back up your data  immediately!

I suggest contacting HP warranty service.

You could  replace the legacy hard disk with a 2.5" SATA 3D NAND SSD on your own if you feel confident enough to do that.
Reinstall the OS afterward and enjoy the added bonus of a major performance boost.

There is an app called WhoCrashed? that will point out what is causing the OS crashes.

Download the free/home version from the web document at the URL below.

There is a tutorial there which explains how to setup your Windows OS to provide a memory dump that WhoCrashed?> will analyze.

I have backed up all my information and HP Warranty Service have requested DPD to come and collect my laptop in order for it to be looked at.

Thank you for your help.
