My Stream 11 uses a full-size SD card; SDHC is definitely ok; I have not tried SDXC. The space problem seems to be the most common complaint about the Stream. 32GB onboard may be fine for Google Chrome, but doesn't work well when running Windows the way you would on a standard laptop or desktop PC, with lots of programs and data stored on an internal drive.

The capacity of the SSD cards (32GB) on the HP Stream 11 at our school district is a nightmare. It was a bad recommendation. Our # 1 support reason is "Students running out of space." We rolled out 20,000 plus!!! I have no idea what our admnistrators were thinking.

However, I understand Microsoft now has a tool for installing Windows 8.1 on a 16GB drive. supposedly as part of one of the updates that Microsoft rolls out. I will look into that and hopefully lessen our barrage of student laptops from being our primary focus of technology. What a waste.

If anyone knows of how to create a Wim Image for a 16GB SSD card, by all means, REPLY!

I bought the 64 GB SDHC card.  I works great...totally compatible.

Our school district will not supply the amount of money, time and upgrade required for 20,000 Stream netbooks.  I software solution is much needed.

You said that it worked great for your HP Stream 11? What brand did you use? I am looking at SanDisk as it has been a good product for me.

Hi all, I have a 128G card in my HP Stream 11. No issues whatsoever. Thinking of trying a 256G.

Also I got rid of windows 10..yuk! And installed Linux Mint. Runs a lot faster and smoother.

Name brand 32GB SD cards are less than $10 retail. I find it difficult to believe that students can't raise $10 ea to upgrade the laptop they were aparently given.

I would think the school system should be able to get SD cards for about $5 ea for sale to students who have overloaded their laptops with games & music.

Thanks for the info. Have to wonder why HP is saying 32 GB max.

I am running 32 and have no problems and sofar along with cloud storage I am having no problems.

I've just ordered a no-brand 256G from China for around $8 on Ebay....It will take a couple of weeks to arrive, but will let you know how it goes.
