I ususally use Support Assistant to update drivers and software. Lately it doesnt work. I see for example there are 3 updates to be downloaded and installed but when I choose them and it starts downloading....nothing more happens. Its just downloading...downloading...and nothing else. Never reaches an install moment.

Ideas / Solutions

====================================

Connection / Download - HP Support Assistant

The issue could be the result of a connection error -- the software cannot be downloaded using the HP Support Assistant.

>>> The fix is to download / save / install that software manually

======================================

You can also try

Restart everything, ideally including the router that controls your network.

======================================

You could also try

Uninstall the HP Support Assistant from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

NOTE:  Windows 11 > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps

Restart the computer and log in

Get and install a new copy of the application

Download, Save, Install the latest supported HP version of the HP Support Assistant

Operating System - Version Detection -

Compiling the list of drivers / software updates

HP Support depends on the hardware it finds in your system -- and what HPSA finds at the system's support website

HP Support Assistant might get into trouble when there are specific versions of the Operating System listed as possible candidates for software and drivers.

If the HPSA does make a choice and the software / driver is either not appropriate for a specific version OR if the selection criteria fails in any other way, the download might fail to complete.

What else?

Business Class Software Update Managers -

You can choose to not use the HP Support Assistant.

Your business class Elitebook is supported by the commercial software for installing / deploying HP software and drivers:  HP Image Assistant

Notes

  • HPIA is not "plug and play" software -- it is fairly use for simple updates and the documentation is decent.
  • HPIA is more flexible and more powerful software than it's consumer grade counterpart (HPSA).
  • HPIA can handle fussy BIOS updates, even when the user chooses to download / install the BIOS update in combination with other drivers / software.
