Are there particular DVD read/writers (or BluRay) that a ProBook 640 G2 supports (HP part numbers)?

When I look online (or even on any HP device itself), there often is a part number for the "physical drive  itself" and and then another sticker part number which I think includes both the "bezel" and or any special connector/locking device in the back.    And not to mention that the drive manufacturer often has it's own part number which HP just re-brands that with it's own part number.      And it's often hard to know given a part number, which of all those it's referring to.

I realize you can often just buy the bezel separately but often it's easy enough to find someone selling on ebay the "whole thing" that just fits in and for older laptops like that, it's often both easier and cheaper to just buy everything that was yanked from an old machine.

Here is the part number from the Maintenance & Service guide for the Blu-Ray ODD.

HP 840688-001 for the 14" laptop.

The bezel that is on the current drive can be carefully removed and installed on the new one. New ones generally do not have the bezel included.

Thanks but current laptop does not have an optical drive so existing "bezel" over the "hole" typically won't be the same as one on a drive (missing eject button, etc for example).   Although I haven't popped the case open yet, when they don't have an optical drive, there's usually some sort of plastic piece sitting in there and the back "locking" connector for that part probably will be the same as needed on an actual optical drive.

Anyway, didn't know if those part numbers in the document are "just for a raw drive" or include the bezel...  As I said, often the drives I see for HP machines usually have lots of stickers and am guessing one is simply the rebranded HP part number for the bare drive and one that includes all the "connectors".

Outrages price on some of the results from that URL for a blu ray... I'll stick to looking for a DVD on ebay...    😀
