Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Right now I have an HP Pavilion Dv6t-2000 with 4GB of RAM. I know the max capacity for the motherboard if 8GB of RAM, but my question is, does it have to be the exact same type of RAM. Right now it is equipped with 4GB of DDR3 1066 mHz Non-ECC/Unbuffered RAM. I was wondering if I could put in newer RAM, like DDR4 at 5600 mHz, or DDR5 at 8400 mHz. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.

The DDR memory types (DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, etc.), all run at different voltages, have a different number of contact pins and the slot in the memory circuit boards are cut in different places, making it impossible to install a different DDR type memory in the PC's slot.

You should also be aware that you cannot install any memory that is faster than DDR3-10600 in your notebook.

It must be 2Rx8 (8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board) or the changes are very high the memory will not work.
