DisplayPort alternate mode is not something you can add to an existing system. You are trying to add something that the GPU, USB controller hardware, BIOS and embedded controller firmware have no support for.

It looks like there is no DisplayPort alternate mode support on this system. Neither the specification nor the Maintenance and Service Guide mentions DisplayPort capability on the USB-C port. It is possible but very unlikely that the capacity exists but is not mentioned in the system documentation. Unfortunately there is no easy way to be certain other than trying it.

There is a way of interrogating the UCSI controller to ask the system which alternate modes are supported, but it requires installing a Microsoft debugging tool, adding a value to the registry and decoding the output of the tool manually. It would be so helpful if Microsoft made a tool that displayed UCSI information in a window, but I think this is unlikely to happen. Moreover, it is possible for the UCSI controller to return incorrect data and not all systems with USB-C necessarily have an UCSI controller.

I have a lot of experience in repairing devices. Is there a pads for a circuit board chip for improvement?
