Product: HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab171cy (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)
Operating System: Linux

In my HP Pavilion Notebook (AMD) I have the WLAN module "Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter" which has problems with Linux or FreeBSD, I was wondering what other supported modules there are to check the FreeBSD or Linux Support in them.

These are the other wireless choices from the factory:

 

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter (non vPRO) 784644-005

Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter 792609-005

Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter 792610-005

 

None of these is particularly Linux friendly although probably easier to configure than a Broadcom. The Intel is only good if your laptop has two antennae, which it may not. The above are not exclusive; you can install any wireless card of the same form factor but the number of antennae is a factor.
