A few times shortly after turning on my computer, the cooling fan will briefly rev up to max speed. (Like revving an engine). It will do this for a few minutes and then return to normal and be fine for about a week. Today it did the revving and then ran constantly at max speed for about 5 minutes before going back to normal. Now, here's the strange part... The CPU is not overheating (87 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit) and it is not under load when this occurs. The fan is blowing out no heat, just cool air, and the heat sink has been blown out with compressed air routinely. This almost sounds like a BIOS issue. At this point I'm not sure if reapplying thermal paste to the CPU will solve the problem. It never revved this high before, only while preforming a BIOS upgrade as a safety precaution. Any thoughts?

Bump! The fan is now surging almost every time when I turn on my computer.

EDIT: I applied fresh thermal paste to the CPU and reset the BIOS. Problem still exists.

Bump!

Any solutions? CPU fan pretty much runs at full throttle 24/7 now.

Fan is still running at full speed 24/7. It will take a break after a few hours only to rev back up a few seconds later.

Also, a week before Christmas, the fan did not run at full speed for a couple of days.

Fan is still running at max throttle. I updated the BIOS to version 30 about a month ago, but that didn't fix the problem. Since January, the fan ran at max speed for 5-10 minutes after turning on the computer, then spin down and operate normally. Today its back at running 24/7. This thing is possessed!

Seeing that no one hasn't provided any solutions, I'm guessing that a BIOS update is to blame. (Seemed to have started after updating to version 29). Also, the fan doesn't appear to have a tachometer, or the computer doesn't show one, so there's no way of know if that's bad or not.
