HP ENVY x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello 🙂

I have two HP ENVY x360 (one is on older version, roughly 5 years old and the other is 1 year old), one was bought in the UK the other in Europe. I was wondering if it would be possible to swap out the chargers so I can use the UK charger with my "European" laptop and vice versa and if there would be any downside to doing this on the long run?

Thank you

The plugs (barrells) are the same and the volts are the same so they are compatible. However, while you can use an overwatt adapter, you should not use an underwatted adapter so the swap would leave you using a 45w adapter on a laptop that was made to use a 65w adapter. I would say don't do it.

Devil is in the details. What exact chargers by part number?

So the following is on the chargers:

OLD NEW

Model No.: TPN-LA04 TPN-LA14

HP Part No.: 853490001 L23960001

Lite ON Part No.: PA145063HP PA165008HT

Replace with HP: Spare 854116850 L24008001

INPUT: 100 240V 1.4A 50-60Hz 100 240V 1.7A 50-60Hz

OUTPUT: 19.5V 2.31A 45W 19.5V 3.33A 65W

I am sure some of these info are unnecessary but I thought its easier to give you everything.

Thank you for your help 🙂

Thank you!

Then I guess my only question is if there would be any long term issues of using the "European" laptop in the UK with a plug converter?

HP Recommended

No the power supply is international and will convert a wide range of AC power (110v-220v) into the correct DC power going to the laptop so the right plug adapter will basically let you use the adapter anywhere in the world.
