For my work, I need the Insert key a lot, and now I have an HP Desktop which has the INsert key merged with the Print Screen. The problem is that to use Insert I need to press the fn key simultaneously.
I'd like to switch this priority, so that Insert would activate when only pressing this key, and Print Screen when pressing fn too. I did switch this priority with all the F (1 to 12), because I thought this would apply to Insert / Print Screen, but it doesn't. Does anybody know how swith this or simply disable the Print Screen option?
Thanks a lot in advance

Oh, and yes, I did attempt something: I went to the BIOS and chaged the fn key for functions F1 to F12. This is better for me, as I use this functions much more than the action keys. Now when I press F1 to F12 the functions work, and if I press simultaneously fn, it activates the action keys. I thought that by doing this it would affect the Print Screen / Insert key too, but unfortunately it didn't, so that's why I'm asking for help. What I would like is that when pressing only this key, the Insert would prevail, and when pressing it simultaneously with fn, it would change to Print Screen (exactly the other way rount of how it works now). If this is not possible, disactivating the Print Screen (so that this key woyuld always "Insert") would be OK for me too.
Thanks again,
Àlex

Thanks for the reply.
Appreciate all your time and efforts.
Let's try HP document: HP Notebook PCs - Disable The Fn + Function Key Combination on Certain Models
On most HP and Compaq notebook computers, it is necessary to press and hold the function key (fn) while pressing one of the f1 through f12 keys to activate the default functions; such as, increasing or decreasing the brightness of the display, the sound volume, sleep, keyboard lock, etc. On the HP Envy notebooks and other notebooks with advanced BIOS options, the function keys can be configured so that it is not necessary to press and hold the fn key.

Configurable Function key fn
Disable or enable fn in the BIOS
To disable, or enable, the function key (fn) in the BIOS, do the following steps.
-
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
-
Turn on the computer and immediately press the f10 key repeatedly, about once every second to open the BIOS setup window.
-
Press the right-arrow or left-arrow keys to navigate to the System Configuration option.
Figure : BIOS setup window
-
Press the up-arrow or down-arrow keys to navigate to the Action Keys Mode option, and then press the enter key to display the Enable / Disable menu.
- Select the desired mode:
-
Disabled: Requires pressing and holding the function key (fn) while pressing one of the f1 through f12 keys to use the action indicated on the action key.
For example, on some computer models, if the Action Keys Mode is Disabled, pressing the f11 key will minimize and maximize a web browser if open. Alternatively, pressing and holding the fn + f11 keys will mute the sound.
The action keys may vary depending on the model of notebook.
-
Enabled: Requires pressing only one of the f1 through f12 keys to use the action as indicated on the action key.
For example, on some computer models, if the Action Keys Mode is Enabled, pressing f11 will mute the sound as indicated on the action key. Alternatively, pressing and holding fn + f11 will minimize and maximize a web browser if open.
The action keys may vary depending on the model of notebook.
-
-
Press the f10 key to save the selection and restart the computer.
The function key (fn) option can be reset at any time.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Dear @raj1788
I did try this before asking here. It does change the way fn works with functions F1 to F12, switching the priority to functions so that you have to press fn to use the action keys. In fact, this is how my keyboard is set right now, because I use functions much more than action keys. BUT it does not change the way Insert/Print Screen key works, so it does not solve my problem.
I think this is a flaw of this new keyboard configuration, because it would be logic that by doing what you suggest the fn key changed for both F1 to F12 and Insert/Print Screen... But it doesn't. Is there any other possible solution?
Thanks in advance,
Àlex
