Case is swollen due to battery. Can I just replace the battery? Can you confirm the battery model and availability?

@TT31415, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

Let us run a test on the battery

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform Component Test > Battery.

If the battery is swollen, it needs to be replaced. The part number is L09281-855. ASSY-BATT 3C 52Wh 4.55Ah LI LK03052XL-PR.

This is a 3-cell, 52.5 Wh Li-ion.

I see that the product is out of warranty. You may order this part online from Hp Store or buy it from a local store.

The phone number is available on the HP Store web page.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
