Hi everyone,
I recently opened up my laptop (HP Envy x360 15z) to upgrade the hard drive and noticed the battery had swollen or deformed (see picture below). It's not flat at all. Finally explains weird issues with the touchpad. Laptop is from Dec 2018 so warranty is out, and looks like unless it's part of a recall (which to my knowledge it's not), I have to pay for replacement myself. I'm curious if anyone knows how I can look up the part number and where I can order the battery?
Your help would be greatly appreciated,
barom138

Open
Replacement procedure and part number on Page 26
Description Spare part number
3-cell, 52-WHr, 4.55-AHr, Li-ion battery (includes cable) L09281-855
HP does not sell this part number.
I found lots of references - take you pick amongst your favorite online merchants.
For example, I found this part at Amazon, eBay, ImpactComputers, and others.
Can't find an "HP" original? Purchase a compatible battery of the correct part number.
No worries.

You are welcome.
"Right", well built, and "Compatible".
Hopefully your new battery will be all those things.

I put in a ticket to buy a new battery 6 days ago. No response from HP yet. Computer is out of warrantee but i just want to BUY a battery to install myself. Same situation, opened up the case and saw it all puffy, (a couple screws had come loose and i think that's why.
How do you get in touch with HP to SELL you a battery? I do not want a knockoff that says 'counterfeit battery' everytime i boot the computer.
Thanks!

I was not able to buy from HP directly. I suggest you buy from eBay and hope for the best. Mine looks and feels genuine and I did not have any issues, there’s still a possibility it’s fake of course but so far so good. Plus the original genuine one was the one that bulged so can’t be that bad regardless.

I'll give that a shot. I found some sites online that had them, but they looked a little sketchy, Amazon meanwhile only had the off brands. But ebay has buyer guarantees so that sounds like a good idea. Thanks!
