Hy there HP community,
While troubleshooting my PC's Synaptics Clickpad I came across Linux and I noticed everything worked out of the box.
Except for the (arguably) best feature Windows has: Biomentric authentication.
Device Manager
It's fast and makes life easier. But not with Linux. I found no way to add the fingerprint driver to Ubuntu.
I ran the Distro with the latest kernel (5.something), in fact the mute button's LED light up when i press it. The top speakers work.
To make it work in Windows you just have to download the Synaptics fingerprint driver for the Spectre x360 13 and, after a few reboots, you're good to go.Synaptics Secure Pad driver
Is there any way to install the same driver to Ubuntu 19.04?
Edit: Also the box where you compose your question is a little bit buggy. When I attatched a photo it would spam it 2-3 time when I tried to scroll the input box with my touchpad while the pointer was hovering the image.

Hi as I got curious and have a fingerprint reader on my HP Envy with Linux Mint 19.1 I found and installed a fingerprint GUI and it installed fine and I read one of my fingers, have not put it to use though but try it 🙂

Nice, yeah I heard of fingerprint-gui for linux, but unfortunately my sensor is not supported:

From the looks of it Synaptics doesn't quite like working with linux, I suppose your trackpad comes from ElanTech. I have also found other apps to manage Biometrics systems (the app is called Biometrics in fact, found it in the Pop!_shop) but still, as long as Synaptics doesn't provide support for linux, and if Spectre x360 keeps on using Synaptics, there's not much I can do.
Which is why I had an even crazier idea. I was wondering if one could install the Windows version of the driver on linux via some emulating software. Like WINE. It's a little bit far fetched but still, I'm asking around maybe some pro linux tech girl/guy shows up and saves the day.
