it has been almost a year now that my TouchPad has stopped working. Last year after the last update made automatically by windows when I restarted the pc the touchpad was no longer showing signs of life.
I tried everything (double-click on the edges of the touchpad thinking that perhaps it had been deactivated by mistake, turn the pc off and on again, reset the pc, reinstall the driver ..)
I noticed that initially the Synaptics SMBus Touchpad does not appear in the device management; only when I click "Show hidden devices" is detected, and even then a yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears. I tried to update the driver, but it gives me "error code 24".
I hope you can help me because using the pc always with the mouse is not comfortable. Sometimes I also need to use it on the sofa or in bed, but I always need to have an external mouse rest.
Thanks to those who will give me a hand. Greetings

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the touchpad.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you uninstall the touchpad driver from the device manager (If available) and then download and install the driver from the below link.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp104001-104500/sp104407.exe
Here is how it is done.
- Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
- Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
- On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
- When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.
NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
