I bought my HP Spectre x360 Convertible in July of 2018. The warranty ended in July of 2019, but I have a care pack that keeps it under warranty until 2021. For the past week, I have been getting the System Fan (90B) error showing up on my screen when I start it up. I have noticed that it normally pops up more if I don't use my laptop for a little while (like about an hour or so). I am a student in college and use my laptop for everything! I have updated the BIOS, and the problem stopped for about a day. The problem then began occurring again, so I am not sure what to do. I was told to try talking to Best Buy since they would still work with my warranty, but Best Buy told me it would cost about $120 to fix it and it would be a few weeks before I could get my laptop back. I cannot go more than a day or two without my laptop since everything I do for school is on it. Should I just send it into HP to be serviced? How long would it take before I got my laptop back? Would it be possible to get a loaner laptop during the time of the repair so I could still have a laptop to use? This is the first time I have had an issue in the past year of having my laptop.

It sounds like the fan system is failing (or has failed).
This may be the case when cleaning and updating the BIOS do not fix the problem, for example.
In general, a standard Care Pack - when it includes the hardware - would likely cover this sort of failure.

What to do?
You do need to talk to HP Support for any warranty issues or repair.
Yes, it can take time to have the computer repaired.
No, we cannot answer any questions about how long it takes - typically, if you are in a US metropolitan area, consider ten days to two weeks for "average". Note that this is an opinion only and not a statement of fact.
We cannot answer any questions about whether you can have a loaner - I would GUESS that the answer is perhaps no. However, it is true that Care Pack contracts vary and so does what HP will do for any individual case. You could certainly ask HP Support about this and other other concerns you have about the situation.

- HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty. This is normal business practice. Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

Recently, HP has seen an increased number of third-party support websites selling HP driver downloads or diagnostic tools. Many of these websites use the HP trademark symbol and claim to be official HP distributors.
If your product supports your operating system, HP offers your driver and software at no additional cost through the HP website.
Use caution when dealing with any website that asks you to pay for HP driver downloads or tools that claim to diagnose your HP products. These websites might not be affiliated with HP in any way.
Do not install BIOS updates from a motherboard manufacturer's website. Only install BIOS updates from HP. Installing BIOS updates from the motherboard manufacturer can prevent the computer from accepting an HP system recovery. This could result in a loss of data.

90B error tells you the fan(s) of your machine do(es) not work properly. Please try the following fix first
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04935023
You may need to replace the fan. BB says few weeks and sending to HP to fix may take a month or two. I don't know they would supply loaner or not. Normally no.
Regards.
