HP Pavillion x360 2-in-1 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My system fan will not start up on my HP Pavillion x360 2-in-1 laptop, causing it to heat up and have issues running. I haven't had this laptop too long.

I just did a "Fresh Start" on my computer to help it run faster in the process of trying to fix this issue.

I know some of my options are: update the bios system, take apart the laptop to clean the fan, or take apart the laptop to see if the wiring is undone.

I'd first like to try updating the bios system before attempting the other two solutions. My problem is when I follow instructions to find the bios system, my settings do not show a search result (I searched both "bitlocker" and "bios system"). Does this mean I don't have a bios system in my laptop? If I do have one, I'm sure I don't remember any special key/password for it.

I do not have any of the original packaging or papers that came with this laptop, so I only have access to things I can look up within the laptops information. This means I also do not have my Windows 10 key information, but I read something that says it's intertwined with my Microsoft Account.

If anyone can help me get my fan up and running before I try to pry this laptop open, I would greatly  appreciate it. This is my school laptop and it's all I have.

Hi,

Can you please provide the complete product or model number of the PC for further help. Here is link to HP support page showing how to find it:

Every machine has a BIOS but you don't just search for it and find it. You have to tap F10 key immediately after powering on. BUT- the BIOS is nothing to go poking around in if you are not tech savvy. You also don't go into BIOS to update it. You download the BIOS update from your Support page and run it to update BIOS.

Although I doubt a BIOS update is going to fix a faulty fan. Before tearing into the laptop you might want to pick up a can of compressed air and use it to blow out the fan/vents really good to see if that helps.
