HP Notebook - 17-by2005no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Concerning HP Notebook - 17-by2005no
Maintenance and Service guide has two different system board part number L22736-xx1 (Intel Core i5-8250U processor) and L40643-xx1 (Intel Core i5-7200U processor). But the machine has Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10210U CPU @ 1.60GHz processor.
So a problem is which one of those system board the machine has installed? Because I don't want to dismantle the new machine yet. I like to know how could i expand the system later.
Could anyone help?

The Service Manual is still valid. The only difference with yours is the motherboard has a newer gen processor. Otherwise the layout is the same.

Manual

There is a slot for a 2.5 inch but if you buy the laptop without a 2.5 inch disk the mounting hardware will not be included and you have to order it. Same hardware as in this Manual will work on yours. Also there is a single M.2 SSD slot that will support NVME.

HP has posted that Service Manual on the support page for your model but the Manual actually only covers earlier models up to 17-by1999xx. So your system board is not listed in the Manual. The part number for your system board is not yet in the Parts Store list, either.

I suggest maybe you live chat with a human at the Parts Store and see if maybe they have access to additional information. I will tell you that upgrade options are somewhat limited. The processor and video are soldered to the motherboard and you can install up to 32 gigs memory and can upgrade the storage with SSDs. Post back if you need any more help.

Thanks Huffer for your quick reply.
It was important to know about the soldered chips like the processor and UHD.
So the SSD 2,5" SATA III and M.2 SATA III disks are supported but how about an extra SSD M.2 slot?
Is the motherboard supporting with NVME technology on that slot?
Have any idea?
bw, but first have really to know what is the motherboard part number exactly.

Right Huffer,
it is nice to hear that the second M.2 slot is also NVMe-supported. So a fast addon drive is possible to install.
The installed drive is also 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD.
This is like I also thought the motherboard is the same only the processor changes.
Thanks a lot for the advice.

To be 100% clear there is only one M.2 slot. Pretty sure I said that but want to be sure I am understood. If you have an M.2 now you cannot add another.

Ok Huffer,

but should be one SATA slot as well?

2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD bay but if the laptop did not come with a 2.5 inch disk you will not have a mounting bracket or attachment cable included and they can be tough to locate in the aftermarket. HP may or may not have them 50/50 at best.

Ok, I see.
This is not so important at the moment. I have some SATA parts for laptops maybe can utilize them later if needed.
Thanks again for your help Huffer.
