Hi! I'm getting error 90b on startup, it's a brand new notebook, maybe 6-7 months of use. Already tried dissasembly to check for dust por fan spinning being obstructed, and is not the case, there was no dust at all, and the fan spins easily with little or no force. Also i did a bios update, and plugged off battery. Sometimes it starts fine, but 70% of the time it doesnt. The fan works but the spinning sound it makes when the message appears is kind of "erratic" going up and down in a loop, i also hear a little "click" noise just everytime the spin speed goes down. I know that i should try with a brand new fan, but is it any way of being absolutely sure that the problem is the fan and not something else? Bios, bad sensor, etc?
Because the fan looks perfect and sometimes it works perfectly and the notebook is almost new, very little use, buy sadly out of the 1 year warrany.
Thank you
Martin

Hi Martin,
In my opinion, you will need to replace the fan and everything should be good. I mean I have not experienced a fan sensor going bad and even if it is the case, you would need to replace the fan to be sure. Even if it looks good it can have a problem.
The part number for the fan/heatsink is 924513-001
You can search with part number and it is also possible to find the fan on its own
Example:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=924513-001&_sacat=0
On page 43 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the fan. Not the easiest model to do this on as you need to flip the motherboard to get to it. If you remove the heatsink, make sure to clean off the old thermal material and use quality thermal compound when you reassemble.

Hope it helps,
