Hi,
Before anything else here are the following serial & product #:
Serial Number: (removed content)
Product Number: P1A84UA
I have a HP Pavilion 17 - g119 notebook with Windows 10 Home 64-bit . In the past few days the TAB key is acting like it is being held down as it always on and off. When you press the TAB key it will always ON and the only way to turn it OFF is through pressing the SPACE BAR. Also CTRL+A (select all items) is also not working but working on CTRL+C (copy) and CTRL+V (paste)
Now the TAB key is not anymore working unlike few days ago. I have tried uninstalling the keyboard driver and rebooting, but without success. So, I thought there will be an issue on both the operating system and HP drivers, so I decided to restore the entire system through using HP RECOVERY but after restoring the HP recovery it seems that still nothing happens. I also tried safe mood but still the same. I do not know exactly the reason why the TAB key is not working anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
Hoping for your positive response...
Thanks

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand certain keys aren't working as they should,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Did you drop liquid or have any accidents with the keyboard?
When was the last time it worked without this issue?
Did you check with an alternate user account or an external keyboard to check if all the keys on that work?
I recommend the below steps:
-
Clean the keyboard with compressed air (blow compressed air in the gaps between keys). This removes some lint and dust.
-
Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and cable for a moment, press and hold the start button for 60 seconds
-
Replace the battery, restart the notebook,
-
if the issue persists, Contact HP to set up a repair/replacement order (free of cost if covered within the HP Warranty).
