Hi,
It is a problem with overheating. Make sure none of the air vents are blocked while you are using. It also could mean the fan has a problem and needs replacing. Do you use the PC in a very hot place? Do you hear the fan spinning? Are you using demanding applications such as gaming?
Provide the model or product number of the PC so we can see the specs of the notebook. Here is link to HP support page showing how to find it:
