Hi @Mert033,.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your system shows TPM enabled in BIOS, but Windows still cannot detect it. Let’s go through a few checks to see what might be causing this.

Confirm the correct BIOS security setting
– Restart the PC and tap F10 to enter BIOS.
– Go to Security → TPM Device / Security Device Support, and make sure it is Enabled (not just “Available”).
– If you see TPM State, ensure it is Activated.

Check if Firmware TPM (fTPM) is selected
– Some HP models allow switching between Discrete TPM and Firmware TPM.
– Set it to Firmware TPM / fTPM and save changes.

Clear TPM from BIOS (does not erase Windows)
– In BIOS Security settings, select Clear TPM.
– Confirm and allow the system to reboot normally.
– This resets the firmware modules so Windows can reinitialize the TPM.

Verify TPM status inside Windows
– Press Windows + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter.
– Check if it shows “The TPM is ready for use.”
– If it says “Compatible TPM cannot be found,” move to the next step.

Reset Windows security subsystem
– Open Settings → Update & Security → Recovery.
– Run Restart Now → Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → UEFI Firmware → Restart.
– This forces Windows to re-detect TPM and Secure Boot at startup.

Re-enable Secure Boot
– In BIOS, under Boot Options, ensure Secure Boot is set to Enabled.
– TPM and Secure Boot are linked, and disabling one can hide the other from Windows.

Remove any virtualization conflicts
– Go to Windows Features and make sure Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, and Windows Subsystem for Linux are turned off temporarily.
– Some configurations reserve TPM for virtual machines and block the OS from seeing it.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Mert033,

Thanks for the update, and I hear you.
If you’ve already gone through all the BIOS resets, TPM clears, Secure Boot settings, and Windows-side checks and nothing changed, then the issue is likely deeper than a normal configuration problem.

Let’s go through a few advanced checks that target the firmware and hardware layer. These will help us confirm whether TPM is failing at the firmware level or if Windows is blocking it after the update.

1. Verify TPM is visible in BIOS information pages

This is different from just enabling it.

• Enter BIOS → go to System Information / Security Device Details
• Check if BIOS lists TPM 2.0 with a firmware version (e.g., 5.x or 7.x)

If the BIOS does NOT show a firmware version:
→ The TPM module may not be initializing at hardware level.

2. Reset “Platform Trust Technology” (PTT / fTPM)

On some HP systems, TPM is Intel PTT or AMD fTPM.

• BIOS → Security → TPM / Security Device
• Switch the mode from Intel PTT → Firmware TPM (or vice-versa)
• Save, reboot, and go back and switch it again
• Save again

This forces the TPM controller to rebuild its handshake with the BIOS.

3. Completely power-drain the security processor

This is critical and often missed.

• Shut down the PC
• Unplug power cable
• Hold power button 40 seconds
• If it’s a laptop, also disconnect battery if removable
• Reconnect and reboot straight into BIOS

This forces the TPM firmware to restart fresh.

I hope this helps.
