After updating my BIOS to the current revision F.20 windows is failing to recognize my TPM. I'm currently running the insider previews and have had no issues until I updated the BIOS. Ive made sure that the TPM is available and enabled and I've rolled back the OS to a version that I know it's worked on before to no avail. I've not tried updating the TPM firmware yet as I'm not quite sure which softpaq to download for it. Can anyone help me with the correct softpaq or should I roll back the BIOS to the f.11 version that it was previously working under? I'm also open to any other suggestions.

@TokinOneKenobi,

Thank you for posting your query in the Hp community. I will be happy to help here. Excellent description and analysis of the issue. Kudos to you for that.

  • Did you try any troubleshooting?

Let's try these steps:

  • Please check this advisory link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c05381064 regarding TPM and check if your computer falls in this list and download the related Softpaq and check if it gets fixed. (HP Desktops, Notebooks, and Workstations - HP TPM Configuration Utility With Windows 10 Anniversary Edition Compatible TPM Firmware)
  • You could also try rolling back the bios and check if that helps. Here's the link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Hi David,

Unfortunately my product is not listed in that advisory. After restoring my laptop, using both the built in recovery image and a clean image off installation media, windows is still not detecting the TPM module. I can boot from a linux distribution using a usb flash drive and confirm TPM functionality that way. After recovery, this leaves the only difference between my computer and my wife's (an identical machine with TPM being recognized by windows) being the BIOS version (f.20 on my machine f.11 on hers)

Trying to roll back the BIOS to F.11 gives me an error in the HP UEFI diagnostic tool that it cannot open the signature file and the rollback fails. Attempting a BIOS recovery from a USB drive results in it reflashing with the F.20 BIOS version. I'm going to attempt to transplant the BIOS signature file from my wife's machine to my EFI partition and reattempt a rollback to the F.11 version tonight. I will reply with an update on this attempt later.

I'm attaching a picture of the TPM info using TPM.MSC from my wife's machine (again, identical to mine except BIOS version) in hopes that it will help identify a possible solution. TPM management snap-in showing manufacturer info.TPM management snap-in showing manufacturer info.
